Eurostat has provided data about general physicians up to year 2020. However, for the ophthalmic surgeons and other highly specialized personnel the data are limited. Data were absent for one country (Slovakia). Last time Hungary has reported information about ophthalmic surgeons more than 10 years ago, Denmark, Finland, Sweden and Czechia 10 to 5 years ago; none has data about ophthalmic surgeons for the year 2017 and after.

Netherlands and Ireland had rate less than 5, another 16 countries had rate between 5 and 10, while Greece, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Czechia, Italy, Latvia, Austria, Cyprus and Estonia had rates greater than 10 ophthalmic surgeons per 100,000 population.
